Equipping the Church
to Minister with People
who have
Developmental
Disabilities
OUR MISSION

LDM equips the Church to minister with persons who are mentally impaired. Through innovative programs, we evangelize, develop relationships, model servanthood, and disciple leaders.

OUR FAITH

LDM began as an independent ministry serving the Lutheran Church. However, we understand that the mission of LDM is much larger than any single denomination. We are available to assist any Christian congregation to start intentional programs for people that are mentally impaired. Our programs teach the basics of the Christian faith as revealed in God's Holy Scripture. As Christians, we are saved by God's grace through Jesus Christ.

OUR GOAL

To equip Christian congregations to get involved in the lives of those who are mentally impaired and transform the Church through the combined gifts present in persons who are mentally impaired and those who fellowship with them.

Three Areas of Emphasis

  1. Establish a model for ministry with persons who are mentally impaired in Central Indiana. This model includes both congregational and interchurch programs that will connect this population to the Church through relationships.
  2. Transfer model for ministry to other geographical centers.
    • This has been accomplished through a previous seminary work-study at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana that has resulted in the formation of Lutheran Disability Outreach; a ministry of LSSI.
    • LDM is conducting a current work-study at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio with plans to plant a second independent ministry.
  3. Disciple and equip Christian leaders
    • Involvement in LDM programs strengthens each person's faith and develops their God given gifts.
    • The Church and LDM needs mature Christian leaders in order to impact the World for Christ. LDM provides Christians with leadership opportunities on the front lines of the mission field in local communities.
